Wine is one of my favorite adult beverages despite the fact that I rarely visit vineyards or cellars. In California I wanted to change that. I decided to spend an evening at LA Wine Bar in Chinatown, Los Angeles and it was an experience to remember.

LA Wine Bar
I wanted to visit LA Wine Bar around the time that they opened in order to avoid crowds. This meant that not only could I grab photos with no one in them (blogger life), but that I could have a more intimate experience and chat with the staff.
When I arrived, the lovely and informative Ramona was on duty. I normally just gravitate toward red wines but wanted to sample a variety so I could report back.
Spoiler alert: everything was delicious. And I do mean everything.
What I loved most was the extensive selection of California wines. It’s actually very rare that I have wine bottled in the USA. If felt good supporting a local business that also supports local businesses.
One of the first wines recommended to me was a chilled, carbonic red wine called “Love You Bunches.” I very rarely have carbonic wines and I’ve certainly never had a red one. I decided that evening that it was my new favorite wine. Now I just have to get my hands on a bottle.
To nibble on something I ordered the “picnic basket” which consisted of a variety of cheeses, crackers, olives, and gherkins. I do wish there was a bigger bites selection but this did the trick.
Throughout the evening I sampled the following wines:
- Fiction – Red Blend ’16
- Husch – Sauvignon Blanc ’18
- A Grenache Blanc ’17 by Groundwork
As I mentioned, they were all delicious and I highly recommend.
I did love that the wine bar had something to offer for those that aren’t wine fanatics like me. If you’re not into wine, and I don’t know why you wouldn’t be, you’ll be pleased to know that in addition to an extensive selection of Californian wines AND their private label, they have a variety of craft beer.
If you’ve visited LA Wine Bar how was your experience? What was your favorite wine?
